Too many people refrain from eating the vegetables they need, simply due to taste preferences. Juicing is a handy alternative that allows you to enjoy all the nutritious vitamins and minerals of vegetables without actually eating them. If you have thought about purchasing a juicer or trying your hand at a healthier lifestyle, the following tips will be of great interest.

It is helpful to store your juicer on the kitchen counter or anywhere in plain sight. That way, you will use it regularly. Keeping the juicer visible adds an extra bit of convenience.

Green juices are great for your nutrition. Unfortunately, they also have a reputation of tasting terrible. This does not have to be the case. You can add a lot of healthy ingredients to alter the taste to whatever you desire. Limes can add a twist to your juice, whereas carrots and apples have the effect of making the juice sweeter.

Drink a healthy juice prior to eating a meal. In addition to making a fabulous snack, juice will provide more benefits when you have an empty stomach. Then, at the meal you'll be less hungry, so you will tend to not overeat.

You are going to get pulp in your juice sometimes, however, you can remedy this with a coffee filter. This can prove helpful if the pulp consistency of your juice isn't working for you. In addition to a coffee filter, cheesecloth will serve as a useful filter in this application.

If you want to liven up the flavor of your juices, try adding a dash of ginger to the juice mix. Ginger can help subdue the sometimes harsh tastes of some types of vegetables, while imparting its own flavorful blend. Ginger also will help to lower blood pressure, reduce the development of atherosclerosis and benefit your heart in a few other ways.

Don't juice a vegetable that you would not eat whole. Your juice does not have to contain the best-known vegetable for a specific vitamin or nutrient if you hate the taste of the vegetable. Find other vegetables that you like to eat that offer similar nutrients and vitamins to the vegetable you don't like to eat. If you juice veggies that you like to eat, you can make sure you like the juice as well.

Whenever you try a new kind of juice, pay attention to what your body tells you. Many people have trouble with some juices and can react badly. Look at the recipe of any drink that upsets your stomach, and try to figure out which ingredient is the problem. You can then use smaller amounts and condition your body to them.

It is important not to substitute meals for juice. While thick, hearty juices make nutritious snacks, they have almost no fat and very little protein, so they do not provide enough energy for your body. Juice before eating can help you keep from over-eating at mealtime, though.

When juicing, have your juice prior to a meal. The nutrients from the juice will be more efficiently absorbed by your empty stomach. As an extra benefit, by the time you're ready to eat, you won't be nearly as hungry. This means fewer calories and perhaps some weight loss in your future.

Try using the whole fruit to when you juice, peels and all. If you remove the skin of your fruits, you will lose a lot of nutrients, fibers and antioxidants. In many cases, there are more nutrients to be found in the skin, than in any other part of the fruit. This goes for all fruits except oranges and grapefruits. The peels of these fruits must not be used. The reason for this is that the peels of these two fruits contain toxins and possibly pesticides.

Drink your juice before you eat your food. The body will gain more benefit from the juice if you consume it prior to a meal, while the stomach remains empty. The juice will cut your appetite so you eat less during the meal.

To keep your dark leafy vegetables fresh for when it comes time to juice them, keep them in a tightly-sealed zippered bag. Before you put them into the bags, wash them thoroughly and dry them off with a towel.

If you are having a hard time getting your kids to eat vegetables, juice them instead. It can be difficult to get children to eat vegetables. If you want to be really sneaky, mix fruits and vegetables in the same juice to hide that fact that the juice drink contains vegetables.

If you feel like adding a change to your juice blend, just add a single new one to your juice to try it out first. If you happen to react poorly to the new type of juice or dislike the taste, you will know which vegetable is causing it and have the ability to remove it from your juice.
