Crossbows came about when our ancestors needed a weapon that almost anyone can use. It had to be smaller and can still be accurately fired towards the target. While the traditional bows required years of practice to reach a certain level of skill and accuracy. Crossbows were the typical point and shoot then reload weapons of history.

Bolts or sometimes referred to as quarrels were the ammo of choice for crossbows. Mechanical triggers held the drawstring in place. The machine can be locked and set indefinitely thereby reducing fatigue. Advances in technology allows for more variations and accessories for the modern crossbow. Field scopes and enhanced mechanisms make it more accurate and deadly.
