When it comes to choosing a diet plan, it can be as difficult as sticking with the one you choose. The problem is, there are thousands of diets to choose from, and they often contradict each other, so how do you know who to believe? The following are some of the advantages and disadvantages of some well known diets to help you find the right one.

You may have heard of diets such as the 1500 Calorie Diet that are based on limiting your intake of calories to a certain figure every day. The best thing about this particular program is that it does not limit you in regard to what you eat as long as you stay within the recommended range of calories each day. What you need to do is make sure the portions in your meals have a breakdown of 40% protein, 30% carbs, and only 30% fat to help you reach your goals. Simply stated, by counting the total calories in every snack and meal that you eat every day, you will at some point reach your goals. If you're going to try a calorie based diet, just make sure you don't choose one that's too extreme for your body's nutritional needs.

Detoxification of your system through internal cleansing is also a great way to begin to shed the extra pounds. Master Cleanse, as well as Natural Cleanse, are great choices when looking at juice fasting options. In the long-term, you will see beneficial results in regard to your health with the added benefit of losing weight during the process.

Dieting that works, research has shown, must accompany sleeping enough each day plus reducing stress levels. Continually being stressed, and a perpetual lack of sleep, can lead to an inability to shed the excess weight. As you know, the more stressed out you are, the more likely you are to gain weight which can also affect your metabolism levels.

You may have to try several diet plans before finding the best one because there are so many. Some people like a little flexibility in their diet plan, while some prefer ones that tell them exactly what to eat. While you may need to cut down on the calories you eat, you will generally do better with a diet that doesn't make you feel deprived.
